“Extra extra read all about it!”
The dwelling place of Hashem, the Mishkan that everybody participated to build has finally been sanctified and is now open! In celebration of this headline event, all of the leaders of the 12 tribes will bring their own personal offerings for the very first time!
It’s noteworthy but unusual that each Nassi brought the exact same sacrifices! All 12 donations were identical in number, weight, and measurements! Nevertheless, the Torah records each sacrifice independently, by and of itself rather than collectively. Why?
Here are a few awesome reasons:
- Even though each Nassi brought the same items, each was driven and inspired by a unique, one-of-a-kind intention in their hearts. You and your way of service are so special to Hashem! Rabbi Dessler illustrates this point in an analogy of a king who requests his kingdom to enter his chamber to give him praise. For each person to say the same thing in the same exact way would be the antithesis of praise, a big yawn.
- Hashem longs for an exclusive relationship with each and every person.
- Hashem gives every person a chance to serve Him. There’s nobody greater or lesser that could fulfill your VIP spot with God. There’s a famous exchange between Rabbi Yisrael Salanter and one of his students in which his student sorrowfully wishes he could pick and choose certain positive attributes of selective Rabbis so that then he could fully serve God. The holy Rabbi Salanter fervently replied, “You will reach a complete service of God with every one of your exact qualities and attributes!”
Be’Ezrat Hashem, we launch our blog with the very same message! There’s never been and never will be anybody like you. Hashem made you so incredibly special and wants a relationship with YOU! Know that He loves you, love yourself, believe in yourself, and know that you could accomplish anything.
#Torah is my life!
