Description

Although the Torah contains 613 mitzvot, most of them apply in specific places or circumstances, and some only to specific people. Amongst them, there are 6 extremely special mitzvot that apply to every Jew, every second of every day called the שש מצות תמידיות or the “6 Constant Mitzvot.” As the Sefer HaChinuch writes (quoted in the Biur Halachah on Orach Chaim 1:1), “Never stop contemplating on these mitzvot because at every time and moment that a person ponders on these, they fulfill positive commandments, and there is no limit to the amount of reward given for the mitzvot…”

         The Six Constant Mitzvot are:

         (1) To believe in God

         (2) To reject the possibility of any other God

         (3) To believe in His complete Oneness

         (4) To love Him

         (5) To fear Him

         (6) To not stray after forbidden desires
